Infusion Center

Allegan General Hospital provides infusions of chemotherapy and other outpatient medications. In addition we administer injections and transfusions of blood products. Eligible services are those that require administration by registered nurses in a hospital setting. Some insurance companies do require pre-authorization for these services. Our Infusion Center suite features rockers, recliners, televisions, CD players, and accommodation of family schedules whenever possible.
Hours: Clinic hours are Mondays 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m., and Wednesdays - Fridays 8:00 - 4:00 p.m. Special arrangements are necessary for services which must be provided afterhours and on weekends.
Medications: AGH nurses administer immune system medications, steroids, “bone hardeners”, iron, antibiotics, blood count stimulants and others, as ordered by a physician. These medications require either a shot or an IV.
Transfusions: Physician ordered transfusions of blood and blood products are provided on an outpatient basis.
Chemotherapy: Specially trained AGH Registered Nurses administer cancer fighting medications. Since 1976, Allegan General Hospital has offered skilled outpatient treatments for cancer patients. We offer not only treatment for cancer patients, but education to both the patient and their family. Our oncologist, Dr. Marcia Liepman, M.D. sees cancer patients every Tuesday in the Specialty Physician Office located in Allegan General Hospital.
Cancer Resource Center: AGH has partnered with the American Cancer Society (ACS) to offer a Cancer Resource Center in the hospital. Visit the center every Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. to speak with a highly trained volunteer and get answers to your cancer questions, access to ACS programs and services to guide and assist you through your cancer journey, and get the support you need. This free community service is located inside the infusion Center. The volunteers also accept special appointments outside of this Tuesday timeframe.
